Big Ideas for Intervention (incorporating Introduction to Numicon yrs 3-6)
Full day face-to-face PD

Join us for a full day of face-to-face, hands-on PD exploring Numicon in years 3 to 6 and the Numicon Big Ideas resources. Your trainer Rachel will introduce you to the Numicon Approach, Numicon resources, the Teacher Handbooks and implementation ideas.

Numicon Professional Development seminars are interactive sessions full of practical ideas and hands-on experiences that give Educators the knowledge and tools to successfully implement Numicon in their school or educational setting. We will explore how Numicon supports student learning in providing a strong visual representation of yr 3-6 concepts.

The Numicon PD program ensures that Numicon is used to its best advantage, releasing its potential to transform students’ attitudes towards mathematics, significantly increasing their achievements.

These sessions are designed for teachers who are new to Numicon or have been using Numicon in Foundation to Year 2 and are interested in learning how these resources could support their students from years 3 to 6, as well as students with learning difficulties or gaps in Maths in an intervention or classroom setting.

Big Ideas is a program of 48 lessons for 9-12 year olds, and above if required, ideally delivered across 12 weeks, that develops secure understanding of key concepts using an active and practical approach. Sessions are delivered across these big ideas; Number and Place Value, Adding and Subtracting, Multiplying and Dividing. Fractions and Working with fractions decimals and percentages. The Big Ideas resource is also suitable for supporting lower secondary students who have gaps in their learning.
